About Us
Mesothelioma is a lethal cancer caused by exposure to Asbestos. New, effective treatments have been slow to emerge but are desperately needed.
The Leicester Mesothelioma Research Programme is a multidisciplinary research partnership between the University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
Though national and international research collaborations, we are accelerating advances in new treatments with the goal of offering real hope for patients diagnosed with this rare cancer.
Our strength is in the development of clinical trials with investigational drugs and translational research, to understand why treatments work in some patients and not others. Achieving effective personalised therapy for patients with mesothelioma is a major driver for our research.
